Description:
Provides control and feedback for Sony Video Projectors 2019 and newer via RS-232 and IP. The driver was written and tested using a VPL-VW285ES.
We have created a Tech Bulletin to aid those having difficulty installing this projector. It describes some of the pitfulls in configuring the projector and driver. It can be found at: https://drivers.rticorp.com/driverfiles/Sony_Projectors_Tech_Bulletin.pdf
Version History:
Version 1.0 The initial release of the driver
Version 1.01 Adjustments to Apex functionality were needed.
Version 1.02 Adds lens position recall commands and adds a 'Raw' command
Version 1.03 Adds lens shift commands
Version 1.04 Adds Aspect Ratio, Color Temperature, Picture Mode, and Gamma Correction System Variables
Sony 4k Projectors (2019 and newer)
Provides control and feedback for Sony Video Projectors 2019 and newer via RS-232 and IP. The driver was written and tested using a VPL-VW285ES.
Release History
1.0 The initial release of the driver
1.01 Adjustments to Apex functionality were needed.
1.02 Adds the lens position recall commands (see note under commands), adds 'Raw' command
1.03 Adds lens shifting commands
1.04 Adds Aspect Ratio, Color Temperature, Picture Mode, and Gamma Correction System Variables
Settings
The connections type of Serial only needs the RS-232 port of the processor being used. If IP is selected then enter the IP Address of the projector and port. The port will most likely be the default of 53595. The driver cannot work with an encrypted connection so if you don't get a connection, make sure that any encryption settings in your projector are set to off
The Lamp Hour Milestone will be used to trigger an event when the lamp has reached a certain number of hours used and probably needs replacing.
Commands
There are commands for power control, input selection, and display changes like HDR, 3D, etc. The power toggle requires 2 button presses to turn off. This is a feature of the projector. If a one press toggle button is required use the system variable test option in the macro editor to test for the projector state.
NOTE: The Lens Position commands, added in 1.02, start a move of the lens that will be interrupted by subsequent commands, or even the need to resync to video. You must not send another command to the projector until it's done moving. By default the driver waits 10 secs after sending a Lens Position command before sending another command. You can change this, but you probably shouldn't.
A raw command is provided for implementing commands not found in the driver. Using the documentation you can enter the command and parameter value from a command and the driver will correctly format and send it.
Variables
There are variables for power, inputs and warnings, hdr, aspect ratio, color temperature, picture mode, gamma correction, and connection state.
Events
There are events for power, lamp hours, and warnings. The Lamp Change event will be triggered every hour past the milestone.
