Introduction & Manufacturer Profile

Shure is a manufacturer of professional audio equipment for conferencing, live sound, and broadcast applications. The P300 IntelliMix Audio Processor is a Dante-networked automixer and DSP unit designed for conference room and huddle space installations, providing acoustic echo cancellation (AEC), automatic gain control (AGC), noise reduction, and automixing for up to 8 Dante microphone inputs.

This driver provides IP control of the Shure P300 over its TCP/IP control protocol. It supports channel mute/gain, automixer control, AEC/AGC/noise reduction per channel, preset recall, analog I/O configuration, and real-time metering.

Driver Features

  • Automixer Control - Mute, mode (Manual / Gain Share / Gating), max NOM, hold time, gate sensitivity, and last-mic lock-on for the automixer output (Ch 21)

System Requirements & Prerequisites

Device Requirements

  • Shure P300 - Firmware 4.1.x or newer
  • Network - P300 control network (not the Dante audio network) reachable from the RTI processor
  • IP Access - Static IP or DHCP reservation recommended on the control network interface

RTI System Requirements

  • Integration Designer - 11.5 or above
  • XP Processor - XP-8
  • XP Firmware - 24.x or above

Driver Configuration

  1. In Integration Designer, add the Shure P300 driver to your project
  2. Enter the IP Address of the P300's control network interface (default: 192.168.1.100)
  3. Set the IP Port (default: 2202)
  4. Optionally, set Volume Scaling (see below)
  5. The driver connects automatically and begins its initialization sequence on program load

Volume Scaling

These settings control what 0% and 100% mean for every Volume (0-100) function and variable, plus how far Volume Up/Down can move. The defaults cover the full device range (-110 to +30 dB), so if you leave them alone nothing changes.

  • Input Volume Floor / Ceiling (dB) - Range for inputs (Dante Mic 1-8, Dante 9-10, Analog, USB, Mobile)
  • Output Volume Floor / Ceiling (dB) - Range for outputs (Dante, Analog, USB, Mobile outputs)
  • Volume Up/Down Step (0.1 dB units) - Size of each Up/Down step (default 10 = 1 dB)

Example: with Input Floor -60 and Input Ceiling 0, a mic's Volume (0-100) of 0% sends raw 500, 50% sends raw 800, and 100% sends raw 1100. Up/Down stops at those limits too. Volume (Native) still accepts the full 0-1400 range. If a channel is set outside the window some other way, its Volume (0-100) shows 0 or 100.

Device dB to raw: raw = (dB + 110) x 10. If you enter a floor that is not below the ceiling, the driver falls back to the full range.

Note: Use the P300's control network address, not its Dante (audio) network address. These are separate interfaces on the device.

Preset Control

  • Recall Preset - Recall preset 1-10

Automixer Mute - System Mute

  • Automixer Mute - Mute/unmute the automixer output (recommended method for system muting)
  • System Mute - Alias for Automixer Mute (identical effect, provided as an alternate name for panel/macro convenience)

Device Audio Mute

  • Device Audio Mute - Mute/unmute the entire device

Per-Channel Mute / Gain

Every controllable channel (01-08, 09-10, 11-12, 13, 14, 15-16, 17-18, 19, 20) has its own dedicated category with:

  • [Channel] Mute - On/Off/Toggle, e.g. Dante Mic Input 1 Mute, Analog Output 1 Mute, USB Input Mute
  • [Channel] Volume (Native) - Set gain directly, range 0-1400
  • [Channel] Volume (0-100) - Set gain as a 0-100 scale across the configured Volume Scaling floor/ceiling (full 0-1400 by default). Slider-capable
  • [Channel] Volume Up/Down - Step gain up/down by the configured Volume Up/Down Step (default 1 dB), limited to the Volume Scaling floor/ceiling (repeatable) - available on all 20 channels

Note: There's no generic "pick a channel from a dropdown" mute/gain function - each channel is a dedicated single-purpose function. This is deliberate: a function with a channel-picker parameter in front of Gain can't render as a slider in Integration Designer, and per-channel functions are required for autoprogram/manual button linking anyway (we can't disambiguate 20 channels through one shared function).

Audio Processing (AEC / AGC / Noise Reduction, Dante mic inputs 1-8)

  • Set AEC - On/Off/Toggle
  • Set AEC NLP Level - Low / Medium / High
  • Set AEC Reference - Assign the AEC reference source (Ch 22)

Metering

  • Metering is off by default - the device reports null for all five meter types until you explicitly enable it. Call the matching Set Meter Rate function below with a non-zero value (e.g. 1000 ms) to start receiving live level updates for that meter type; without doing so, the Meter - [Channel] variables stay null indefinitely.
  • Set Input/Output/Processing/ERLE/AGC Meter Rate - 0 (off) or 100-99999 ms. There is no valid value between 1-99 (that range doesn't exist on the device) - submitting one is treated as "on" and snapped up to 100 (the fastest valid rate), not silently turned off. Submit exactly 0 to disable periodic meter reporting for that meter type.
  • Set Input/Output Meter Mode - Pre-Fader / Post-Fader

Call Status

  • Set Onhook Enable - Enable/Disable

Direct Output

  • Set Direct Out Tap Point - Pre-Gate/Pre-Processing, Pre-Gate/Post-Processing, Post-Gate/Pre-Processing, Post-Gate/Post-Processing

Device Management

  • Send Raw Command - Send any ASCII command for anything not exposed above, including commands added in newer firmware. The < > brackets are optional: GET 21 AUTOMXR_MUTE and < GET 21 AUTOMXR_MUTE > both work. The reply shows in the Last Response variable

Function to Variable Quick Reference

Function and variable names match 1:1 throughout this driver (e.g. the function Dante Mic Input 1 Volume (Native) feeds the variable of the same name) - see the Functions and Variables sections above for the full per-category breakdown. This section only calls out the pairings that aren't obvious from the name alone:

  • Mute functions also produce Muted and Unmuted boolean twins (not just the plain 0/1 variable) - bind button highlighting to those, not the integer.
  • Bind sliders to Volume (0-100), not Volume (Native) - see the note under Per-Channel State below for why.
  • Volume Up/Down has no variables of its own - it just nudges the same Volume (Native)/Volume (0-100) feedback.
  • Recall Preset feeds three variables per slot, not one: Current Preset, Preset N Name, and Preset N Active.
  • Meter Rate and Direct Out Tap Point functions do have device readback (confirmed via live traffic) - this was wrongly assumed to be action-only in an earlier pass, corrected here.
  • Reboot and Restore Default Settings are genuinely action-only - no variables at all.
  • Send Raw Command has no dedicated feedback, but its reply (like every other non-meter device message) lands in Last Response under Device Management.
  • System Mute has no dedicated variable of its own - it's a plain alias for Automixer Mute, so read Automixer Mute/Automixer Muted/Automixer Unmuted instead.

Variables

Variable categories mirror the function categories above 1:1 by name, so a category found in the function tree has a same-named counterpart in the variable tree (and vice versa, for anything with feedback). The two extra categories below (Connection Status, Device Info) have no function equivalent - they're pure device/driver state.

Connection Status

  • Connection State (Integer) - 0 = Disconnected, 1 = Connected
  • Initialization State (Integer) - 0 = Ready, 1 = Initializing

Device Info

  • Model, Serial Number, Firmware Version, MAC Address, Encryption
  • USB Connected / USB Connect State

Preset Control

Autoprogramming Support

What's tagged (and why these two specifically)

  • Automixer Mute (Ch 21) - the one genuinely single, non-repeated mute control in the driver, used exactly once, not spread across channels.
  • Recall Preset (1-10) - the Master Tag List has numbered variants (Preset 1 through at least Preset 56) specifically for this - the only place in the vocabulary that supports per-instance numbering.

Exact tag assignments:

  • Mute / Mute On / Mute Off - Automixer Mute's Toggle/On/Off choices
  • Mute, Mute On / Mute Off - Automixer Muted / Automixer Unmuted variables (LED feedback)
  • Preset - Current Preset variable
  • Preset 1-Preset 10 - Recall Preset's 10 choices, and the matching Preset N Active variables (LED feedback for whichever preset is currently active)

Limitations

  • The driver connects to the P300's control network interface, not the Dante audio network - use the control IP address in configuration
  • AEC, AGC, and noise reduction control are only exposed for Dante mic inputs 1-8, matching the P300's automixer channel layout
  • Initialization is staged (one group of GET queries every 500 ms) to avoid flooding the device on connect; full state feedback may take several seconds after connection
  • Metering is off by default and must be explicitly enabled via Set Meter Rate (see Functions > Metering) - once enabled, it runs continuously at whatever rate was set for the life of the connection, which is ongoing background network traffic, not a one-time query
