System Requirements & Prerequisites

Required Information

First thing you need to do is install the app on your phone/tablet and create a Smartthings account.

Once you have done that, add each TV you want to control to it.

Then you need to get a Personal Access Token.

To get the token go to - https://account.smartthings.com/tokens

Click on Generate new token button.

Give the Token a Name such as RTI Driver.

Under Authorized Scopes select Devices and make sure all 4 checkboxes are selected.

Then select the Generate Token button.

This will then give you the Personal Access Token.

Make a note of it, as once you leave the page you can never get access to it again.

Important: To set up the driver and connect SmartThings TVs, you’ll need a Personal Access Token. This is like a temporary password that only lasts for 24 hours, so be sure to create it on the same day you’re adding or removing TVs.

This token is only required when using Integration Designer, it’s not used by the driver or the processor during normal operation.

The processor and driver use OAuth, which doesn’t have this 24-hour limit.

(For help creating the token, see the Driver Configuration section.)

RTI System Requirements

Integration Designer: 11.5 or later

XP FW: 23.5.11 or later

Internet Connection for both ID11 and the XP Processor

Driver Requirements

Correctly configured Smartthings Personal Access Token.

Oauth authorization needs to be completed.

TV Must be added to the Smartthings App.

If you cancel the Discovery, you will need to manually enter the IP address and MAC address of all devices you have added to the project.

For each TV in Smartthings, a new instance will be added to the driver.

To add a device to the project, go to Add Workspace Item / Drivers / Existing Drivers and press the + next to Tizen TVs with Smartthings. Any Devices not already added to the project will be listed there.

Device Configuration

You need to allow notification prompts.

This is done by going to - Settings / General / External Device Manager / Device Connection Manager / Access Notification and set it to First Time Only.

You Also need Power on by Mobile enabled.

This is done by going to - Settings / General / Network / Expert Settings.

Driver Configuration

Make sure all TV’s that you want to use are powered on and connected to the network or discovery will not work.

Add driver to Global.

Once added you will be asked for your Personal Access Token - Enter it here.

You will then be asked if its ok to Scan the network for devices and retrieve the configuration from Smartthings.

If you select yes, ID11 will scan the network for any Samsung TV’s and retrieve the Configuration from Smartthings and add them to the driver.

If you select No, the driver will be started with no TVs available. You will need to select the ‘Synch Driver with Smartthings’ Option to continue.

Once the driver is Synched, any TVs associated with Smartthings will be available to add to your project.

You now need to go to Add new Workspace Item

Select Drivers

Under Tizen TVs with Smartthings in Existing Drivers Section, you will see all the TV’s available, Add the ones you wish to use.

If you haven’t performed a discovery yet, you will need to either select ‘Discover Devices’ or you will need to manually enter the IP address and Mac address of all devices you have added to the project.

In Integration Designer Workspace select Global/Processor and select the XP processor. Then select Settings, and select either Copy URL if you need the Smartthings account holder to perform the Oauth authorization (You will need to send them the URL for them to open in a browser), Or select Launch URL if you are going to perform the Oauth authorization.

To perform the Oauth authorization, you need to have uploaded the project to the XP Processor. When you open the URL in a browser you will be on the RTI Authentication Dashboard. Select Authorize on the Samsung Smartthings panel, and log in to the Samsung account. Follow the instructions from there.

Once the authorization is complete you will be back on the RTI Authentication Dashboard and the Samsung Smartthings panel should now show as Authorized.
