Description:
This driver supports the Russound CAV/CAA/CAM Multiroom audio systems and attached RNet peripherals through a serial connection. Multiple controllers may be addressed with the driver commands but metadata can only be received from the first controller and it"s peripherals.
Russound CAV/CAM/CAA/CAS Series Driver
This driver was written using version 1.00 of the Russound Developer's toolkit, and was tested on a CAV6.6 using an ST2 and iBridge iPod dock
RS-232 Connection
The serial cable for theCAV6.6 is a straight through cable to the XP-8 serial adapter. The XP-8 will display "RTI Connect!" on any UNO S2 keypad when it first gets a response from the system
Compatibility
The XP-8 driver setting give you a choice CAV and ACA, this has not been tested on an ACA
Peripheral Displays
RNet peripherals can return metadata in two ways: The first, as used by the ST2, is to return a single line of text which is accessible through the Source Text Display in the [Peripherals] section of the varinables. The second is with a multi-field display that is also in the [Peripherals] section.
The Zone Display is similar to the displays on the UNO-S2 keypad in that it will show volume changes as well as the metadata for whichever peripheral is currently assigned to the zone
Driver Events
Driver events are provided for the on/off state of each zone as well as for the first zone on and last zone off. Peripheral changes also have events but the controller often sends source change messages through the system so they may also fire even when the source has not changed.
There is are two driver events for every press on an UNO keypad: one for the keypress on the keypad, another for the peripheral.
Tuners
Tuner frequency, as well as presets and banks can be altered with up/down commands and by direct entry. To directly set a value you have to create a macro that starts with the Direct Entry command followed by the digit commands in the tuner section. There is no need to enter an AM/FM parameter as that is inferred by the system from the frequency entered.
Sample File
The sample file was created for Zone 1 of a system that uses an ST-2 with satellite as peripherals 1 and 2 (no commands are on the Satellite Radio page, just metadata) and an iBridge dock as peripheral 3. The display on the main page mirrors the UNO displays while the 'Source' pages show the full metadata.
