Key Digital Matrix Switchers

By: RTI
Updated: Oct. 2, 2014
Version: 1.1

Description:

This driver supports Key Digital KD-CS, KD-HD, and KD-HDLite Series matrix switchers connected to the XP Processor via RS-232 or Ethernet.

Version History:

Version 1.1: adds support for KD-HDxxxLite and KD-xxxCS series switchers along with adding Ethernet control for KD-HD and KD-HD Lite models and Switch Address configuration field.

Key Digital KD-CS/KD-HD/KD-HDLite Matrix Switcher

This driver is for the Key Digital Matrix Switchers using Serial or Ethernet connectivity. The driver was tested with KD-HD8x8 and KD-HD8x8Lite Matrix Switchers.

NOTE - This driver was not tested with Champion Series (KD-CS) switches. Although the Champion Series is selectible, operational results may vary.

Revision History

1.0 The Initial release of the driver

1.1 Added support for KD-HDxxxLite and KD-xxxCS series switchers

Added Ethernet control capabilities for KD-HD and KD-HDLite models.

Added Switch Address configuration.

Switch Type

Type - Selected the series of matrix switcher to use with the driver. Choices are Champion Series, HD Series, and HD Lite Series.

Connection Settings

Connection Type - Select the type of connection to use for control. Choices are Network (TCP) and Serial (RS232). Network (TCP) is only available for the HD Series and HD Lite Series.

Network (TCP) Connection

The Network (TCP/IP) port on the Key Digital matrix switch should be connected to the same network that the XP processor resides on.

The IP Address of the Key Digital Matrix switch should be set to a static IP address and that address needs to be entered in the IP Address field.

The HD Series and HD Lite Series switchers use port 23 for default TCP/IP communications.

Serial (RS232) Connection

The Serial (RS232) connection on the Key Digital matrix switch should be connected with a straight through cable to the XP processor serial adapter.

The Key Digital matrix switch uses a baud rate of 57600 as default for serial (RS232) communication.

Selected Output Settings

Enable Selected Output - Enables the Selected Output capability in the driver for use. This feature is used for minimizing the need of setting up multiple zone pages on the user interface. The selected output is the current output to be controlled from the selected output driver commands.

Switch Addressing

Switch Address - Enter the address assigned to the Key Digital switch. This address is appended to the beginning of every command sent to the switch in use.

I/O Configuration

Output Count - Select the number of outputs on the switch. Choices are 4, 6, and 8 outputs.

Input Count - Select the number of inputs on the switch. Choices are 4, 6, and 8 inputs.

I/O Routing Port Count (HD Series and HD Lite Series Only) - Select the number of I/O Routing Ports (Expansion I/O) on the switch. Choices are 4, 6, and 8 outputs.

Output Naming, Input Naming, I/O Routing Port Naming

Enter the names preferred for use in the driver commands, variables, and events.

Driver Notes

- Features available in the driver are dependent on the Switch Type setting. Input/Output routing, and switch power are available across all models.

- If multiple CS switches are used to achieve more outputs, each switch must be controlled by an independent RS232 port and separate instance of the driver. Support for cascading CS series switches is not currently available from the driver as it has not been tested for operation.

NOTE - This driver was not tested with Champion Series (KD-CS) switches. Although the Champion Series is selectible, operational results may vary.
