Introduction

The Illumivue Surveillance driver provides intelligent video surveillance control for Illumivue-enabled devices including PTZ cameras, alarm detections, smart detections and video streaming. It communicates over HTTP using LightAPI-based commands and receives real-time updates via event subscriptions.

Version History

  • Version 1.0: Initial release.

Driver Features

This driver supports control of all major Illumivue Surveillance features. Available functions and variables depend on individual camera capabilities as reported by the connected NVR.

  • PTZ Control — Real-time pan, tilt, and zoom control. Preset recall for predefined camera positions. Patrol route control for continuous monitoring through predefined paths.
  • Media — Access and display live video streams from the camera.
  • Alarm Detection — Ultra Motion detection, tamper detection, human shape detection, and audio detection (sudden raise, sudden fall, sudden change, or threshold).
  • Smart Detection — Intrusion detection, cross line detection, entry/leave zone detection, and face detection.
  • Manual Alarm — Manually trigger a selected alarm channel as configured during driver setup.
  • Camera Latest Event - Holds the most recent event received from a specific camera. This variable is scoped to individual camera activity.
  • NVR Latest Event – Holds the most recent event received across all connected cameras. This variable is scoped to system‑wide tracking.

System Requirements

  • Integration Designer: 11.x or above
  • XP Processor Firmware: 25.x or above

Driver Configuration

1. Prepare Devices

Using the Illumivue mobile application, add and configure selected NVR. Verify basic control (PTZ control) from the app before proceeding.

To enable alarm notifications: Open Alarm Notifications → Tap Allow Notifications → Enable the toggle for My Device → Go to Advanced Settings → Select My Device → Enable notifications per camera or tap Select All.

Note: Presets and patrol routes must be created in the Illumivue app before accessing these features in the driver.

2. Configure Driver Settings

Add the Illumivue Surveillance driver to your RTI Apex project. Open the driver configuration and set the following:

  • IP — The IP address of the NVR.
  • Username / Password — Credentials for the NVR.

3. Run the Configuration Script

Click "Get Device Data" to connect to the NVR and discover all configured cameras, then click "Build Driver". The script queries each camera's capabilities and dynamically generates sources, functions, and variables scoped to what each camera actually supports. And set

  • Alarm Output Channel — The output channel used for the manual alarm trigger.
  • PTZ Pan Speed — Select the PTZ pan speed.
  • PTZ Tilt Speed — Select the default PTZ tilt speed.
  • Audio Difference — Select the audio difference level.
  • Audio Threshold — Select the audio threshold level.

4. Add Sources

After the script completes, the following sources are available to add to your project:

  • {Name of Camera} - Camera level

5. Autoprogramming

With sources added, use autoprogramming to link functions and variables to your template buttons. The driver uses generic button tags(Start Patrol, Stop Patrol, Audio Detection Raise, etc.)

Event Monitoring & Detection

  • Detection Event Triggering — Automatically triggers respective RTI events for detections received from the cameras.

Note

The areas and additional details(Sensitivity, Time Threshold, Percentage, Priority, Object Type, etc) must be configured on the website, while Enabling or Disabling the detections can be managed through the driver.

Please configure the specific Motion Detection area in the website before Configuration.
Only the area defined in the website will be taken as the detection zone, and this area will remain fixed during driver operation.

Disclaimer

This .md file describes the functionalities of the Illumivue driver.
For more detailed information about the Illumivue system, please refer to the official Illumivue guide.

Limitations

  • Functions and variables are generated based on what each camera supported. A feature listed in Driver Features may not appear for a specific camera model if that camera does not support for it.
  • The Detection source (Ultra Motion, tamper, intrusion, face detection, etc.) is only generated for cameras that report these capabilities.
  • PTZ presets and patrol routes must be pre-configured in the Illumivue app before being accessible in the driver.
  • Multi-camera coordination requires all cameras to be on the same subnet and connected to the same NVR.
  • All detection features and PTZ operations are dependent on individual camera hardware capabilities.

System Testing

  • Integration Designer: 11
  • XP Processor Model: XP-6
  • XP Processor Firmware: 25.11.20
  • Device Models Tested: NVR-8.3
  • Device Firmware: 2.58 and above
