Elan Home Systems S86 Series Integrated Multi-Room A/V Controller
This driver is for the Elan Home Systems S86AV or S86A/P Integrated Multi-Room A/V Controllers. It supports access to the functions for up to 8 Sources & 24 Zones. This Driver was tested with a S86AV Integrated Multi-Room A/V Controller.
Version History
1.0 - Initial Release
RS-232 Connection
The RS-232 connection on the S86AV should be connected with a straight through cable to the XP-8 serial adapter. If using multiple S86AV Controllers, connect the XP-8 serial adapter to Unit 1.
The S86AV defaults to a baud rate of 19200.
Special Notes
- The S86AV responds to commands with only an acknowledgement string, therefore a query string is sent automatically with each driver command for acurate feedback. This however may cause slower 2-way responses when global commands or initialization commands are sent.
- If the S86AV see's an incoming "non-driver" command (ie RS232 library command), the driver will poll the S86AV after a predetermined amount of time after the last "non-driver" command is received. This may also cause slower 2-way responses.
- 'Group Paging' Global Commands are to be used only if group paging has been setup using Elan's VIA Tools.
- 'No-Group Paging (All Zones)' Global Commands are to be used only if group paging has not been setup.
- 'Trigger Output' Zone Control Commands are available when the respective trigger output is set to command in Elan's VIA Tools.
*****NOTE***** iPod integration using the VIA!migo is NOT available in this driver.
