B&K CT Series

By: RTI
Updated: May 27, 2011
Version: 1.12

Description:

This driver is for the B&K CT600 and CT300 series multi-zone systems, connected to the XP processor via RS232 or Ethernet.

Version History:

Version 1.1: fixes problems with the system not tracking tuner frequency changes. It adds better support for 'All Zones' commands as well as returning separate status for All Zones, and creates a new integer return for source numbers for more flexibility in zone renaming.

Version 1.11: fixes AM tuner frequency display and the reversed STA+ and STA- commands.

Version 1.12: fixes the missing 'Zone F FM Frequency' variable.

B&K CT Series Multizone Systems

This driver was written using Version 2.00.05 of the B&K Interface Protocol (BKC-DIP) and a CT600.3

In this version of the driver you CANNOT use parenthesis or semicolons in text labels or macros. These are used in the protocol to start and stop the commands and they cannot be ignored by the driver if they show up in labels.

Serial Cabling:

A straight through serial cable will not work. You have two choices:

1. use the RJ45 to 9 pins from the XP8 and the CT600 back to back as a converter. Go RJ45 from the XP8 to its converter, plug B&K's converter into that and then go RJ45 into the CT600.

2. create/crimp a custom RJ45 cable.

Other Notes::

The CT600 does not automatically update the source status, even when you change it from the XP-8. It does update the status for the audio and video source however. The driver will request a source update when the audio source is updated but it may be quicker to just use the audio source as your source indicator, they are never different.

When the system initializes it asks the CT600 for the names of the inputs. You can use the Input Title variables as button text to label any source selection buttons and they will automatically show the names stored in the CT600.

System Events are triggered by changing the power or mute status of any zone or changing a source input. They are also triggered by the audio and video source detectors in the box.

Revision History

1.01 fixed the failure to accurately scale the sliders when Graph Data Sources were dragged onto them.

1.02 fixed the Zone D Mute command so it controls Zone D instead of C.

1.1 Added 'All Zones' as a separate zone for status and increased the number of All Zones command. Forced unit to send frequency updates from all zones when any zone changes tuner frequency. Added a second source variable that returns am integer value, this aids in renaming zones and increases compatability with two-way RKM-1's

1.12 Fixes the missing Zone F FM Freq
