Jio Set Top Box Driver

Version 1.0 – Habitech Ltd

Overview

This driver allows control of a Jio Set Top Box over your local network using a UDP connection. The control processor and the Jio STB must be on the same network.

Supported functions:

Power toggle and power off

Navigation (up, down, left, right, OK, back, home)

Channel up/down, guide, info, live TV, recordings

Numeric keypad (0–9)

Media transport (play, pause, stop, fast forward, rewind, skip, record)

Colour buttons (red, green, yellow, blue)

On-screen keyboard with text entry

Setup

1. Find the IP address of the Jio STB

The Jio STB must have a fixed (static) IP address on your network. You can set this either on the STB itself through its network settings, or by creating a DHCP reservation on your router.

2. Enter the IP address

In the driver settings, enter the IP address of the Jio STB in the IP Address field.

Pairing

The Jio STB requires a one-time pairing process before it will accept commands. This is similar to pairing a Bluetooth device – it only needs to be done once, and the pairing is remembered even after power cycles.

How to pair (browser web UI – recommended):

1. Make sure the Jio STB is powered on and connected to the same network as the control processor. Enter the STB's IP address in the driver settings.

2. On a phone, tablet, or laptop on the same network, open a web browser and go to:

http://<XP processor IP>:2012

3. The pairing page will show the STB status. Press Begin Pairing. A 4-digit code will appear on the TV screen connected to the STB.

4. Type the 4-digit code into the web page and press Submit Code. The page will confirm pairing succeeded. Pairing is remembered across reboots.

The web UI port can be changed under the Web UI category in the driver settings (default 2012). If multiple Habitech drivers are running on the same processor, give each one a unique port.

Fallback – on-panel pairing keypad: A pairing keypad panel is also provided with the driver and can be added to the project as a merge page. The "Pairing Required" variable shows/hides the layer automatically. The keypad uses the same digit entry and Clear/Reconnect functions exposed by the driver.

Unpairing

If you need to pair with a different STB, or if the pairing has become invalid, use the Unpair function. This clears the saved pairing data and allows you to start the pairing process again.

Power Control

Power Toggle – Turns the STB on if it is off, or off if it is on. This is the recommended power command for most situations.

Power Off – Puts the STB into standby mode.

Note: There is no dedicated power on command. The Jio STB does not respond to network commands while in standby. To turn the STB back on, use Power Toggle.

Text Entry / Keyboard

When the STB shows a text field (for example, a search box), you can type text using the on-screen keyboard provided in the driver.

How it works:

1. Press Show Keyboard to display the keyboard panel.

2. Type your text using the letter and number buttons. The text you have typed will appear in the buffer display on screen.

3. Use Backspace to delete the last character, or Clear Text Field to erase everything and start over.

4. Press Enter to send the text to the STB. This submits all the text at once and clears the buffer.

5. Press Hide Keyboard when you are finished to close the keyboard panel.

Advanced Functions

Send Custom Keycode – Sends any Android keycode number to the STB. This can be used to test additional functions not included in the standard command set.

Send Custom Long Press – Sends a long press of any Android keycode number to the STB.

Known Limitations

The STB does not respond to commands while in standby. Use Power Toggle to wake it.

Volume control is not included. Volume should be controlled through the TV or audio system.

App shortcut buttons (Netflix, YouTube, etc.) are not currently supported. The required launch codes are not documented by the manufacturer.

Troubleshooting

The driver shows "No IP configured"

Check that you have entered the STB’s IP address in the driver settings.

The driver shows "STB unreachable"

Verify the STB is powered on and connected to the same network. Check that the IP address is correct and that there are no firewall rules blocking UDP traffic on ports 4445 and 5775.

Pairing code does not appear on the TV

Make sure the STB is fully booted and on its home screen. Press Reconnect to retry the connection.

Commands stop working after a while

The STB may have gone into standby. Use Power Toggle to wake it, then try your command again.

The driver was previously paired but is no longer responding

The STB may have been factory reset or its pairing data may have been cleared. Use Unpair in the driver, then go through the pairing process again.
