Valerion VisionMaster PJLink

Version 1.4

Overview

The Valerion VisionMaster PJLink driver provides licensed, centralized two-way TCP control and feedback for compatible Valerion VisionMaster projectors through the AWOL Link PJLink service. Developed and physically validated with a VisionMaster Max, the driver combines standard PJLink power, input, mute, identification, resolution, and error feedback with verified Valerion-specific volume, remote-navigation, picture-mode, laser-luminance, Enhanced Black Level, Motion Enhancement, gamma, Dynamic Tone Mapping, color-temperature, signal, fan, temperature, and LED diagnostics. It provides serialized request handling, response verification, safe reconnect and retry behavior, signal-aware command restrictions, explicit SDR, HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG, signal-present, and no-signal feedback, detailed communications diagnostics, configurable polling, encrypted processor-bound licensing with a persistent evaluation period, and build-channel identification for development, release-candidate, and production packages. Physical testing was completed on the VisionMaster Max; other VisionMaster models and firmware should be commissioned and verified on site.

Compatibility and requirements

Validated equipment: Valerion VisionMaster Max. Validated firmware: V0000.01.00E.Q0718 23 OEM01.0.0.0. AWOL Link must be enabled and reachable from the RTI XP processor over TCP port 4352.

Other VisionMaster models may expose the same service, but compatibility must be confirmed on the installed model and firmware.

The driver supports an unauthenticated PJLINK 0 greeting and legacy PJLINK 1 MD5 challenge authentication. PJLINK 2 authentication is detected and reported but is not supported.

Projector preparation

1. Connect the projector and RTI processor to the same routed local network.

2. Reserve the projector address in DHCP or configure a static address.

3. On the projector, open All Settings, Inputs, External Inputs, and enable AWOL Link.

4. Confirm TCP port 4352 is reachable from the RTI processor network.

5. Close temporary PJLink test applications before downloading the RTI project so that they do not compete for the projector session.

Driver properties

License Key: Enter the 32-character processor-bound license key. If blank or invalid, the persistent 30-day evaluation applies.

Projector IP Address: Enter the projector's static or reserved IPv4 address.

PJLink TCP Port: Retain 4352 unless Valerion support specifies otherwise.

PJLink Password: Leave blank for PJLINK 0. Enter the configured password only for PJLINK 1.

Startup Delay: Delay before the first connection attempt. Default 2 seconds; valid range 0 through 60 seconds.

Core Status Poll Interval: Default 5 seconds; valid range 2 through 25 seconds. The 25-second maximum helps keep the PJLink session active.

Picture Feedback Poll Interval: Default 15 seconds; valid range 5 through 300 seconds.

Diagnostics Poll Interval: Default 60 seconds; valid range 15 through 3600 seconds.

Response Timeout: Default 3 seconds; valid range 1 through 30 seconds.

Command Spacing: Default 100 milliseconds; valid range 50 through 5000 milliseconds.

Reconnect Interval: Default 5 seconds; valid range 1 through 60 seconds.

Offline Failure Threshold: Default 3 consecutive failures; valid range 1 through 20.

Maximum Queue Depth: Default 50; valid range 10 through 100.

Enable Trace: Logs important startup, connection, authentication, command, error, and state changes.

Verbose Trace: Adds queue, parsing, polling, event, and variable detail when tracing is enabled.

Raw Protocol Trace: Adds exact PJLink transmit and receive frames. Disable after commissioning to reduce TraceViewer volume. Passwords and computed authentication digests are never logged.

Commands

Power: Set Power provides On, Standby, and feedback-based Toggle. Toggle is rejected until valid power feedback exists.

Input Selection: Set Input provides Home and HDMI 1 through HDMI 3.

Audio: Set Audio Mute provides Mute, Unmute, and feedback-based Toggle. Adjust Volume provides Up and Down. Set Volume accepts 0 through 100.

Navigation and Menus: Remote Control provides Up, Down, Left, Right, OK/Enter, Return/Back, Quick Menu, Settings, and Home.

Picture Controls: Set Picture Mode accepts only a mode reported in Available Picture Modes for the active signal. Set Laser Luminance accepts 0 through 10. Enhanced Black Level supports Off, Low, Medium, and High. Motion Enhancement supports Off, Custom, Film, Clear, Standard, and Smooth. Gamma is restricted to SDR. Dynamic Tone Mapping is restricted to HDR10. Color Temperature exposes the validated Standard and Cool values.

Feedback Requests: Refresh Core Status, Refresh Picture Feedback, Refresh Diagnostics, and Refresh All Feedback request an immediate serialized update.

Driver Communication: Reconnect rebuilds the TCP session. Clear Pending Requests removes queued requests but intentionally retains the request already in progress.

Feedback and GUI programming

Use Power, Power On, and Standby for primary power feedback. Use the input-specific and audio-mute booleans for button feedback. Device Online means valid PJLink responses are being received; TCP Connected means only that the socket is connected. Feedback Stale becomes true after communication loss and remains true until a valid response is received.

Build Identification distinguishes DEV, RC, and RELEASE packages in XP Diagnostics and TraceViewer.

Available Picture Modes is authoritative for the active signal. Signal Type provides display text, while Signal Type - SDR, HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG provide conditional feedback. Signal Available and No Signal explicitly identify source presence. All signal-type booleans remain false until valid signal information is received and whenever No Signal is true.

Aspect Ratio is feedback-only. Fan speeds, internal temperatures, and LED/error data are device diagnostics and should not be treated as room environmental measurements. Last Successful Communication is an ISO timestamp generated from RTI's authoritative UTC clock and the processor-local offset.

Events

License: License Expired.

Driver and Communication: Driver Started, TCP Connected, TCP Disconnected, PJLink Ready, PJLink Authentication Failed, Device Online, Device Offline, Response Timeout, Request Queue Full, Command Accepted, Command Rejected, and Device Error Reported.

Projector State: Power On, Standby, Power State Changed, Input Changed, Audio Muted, Audio Unmuted, Picture Mode Changed, and Signal Type Changed.

State-change events are edge driven after corresponding feedback is known. Do not use TCP Connected as a substitute for Device Online or PJLink Ready.

Request serialization and reconnect behavior

PJLink responses do not include an application request identifier. The driver therefore permits only one active request, serializes polling and control traffic, and applies the configured command spacing. Each setter is followed by an authoritative feedback query.

The projector may close an idle connection or reset the connection while applying a proprietary picture setting. The driver reconnects automatically and may retry an interrupted absolute query or setter once. Relative volume commands and remote-button commands are never retried because repeating either could execute the action twice. When known power feedback reports Standby, the driver continues polling power but suppresses requests the projector may reject while asleep.

Troubleshooting

No TCP connection: Verify AWOL Link, IP address, routing or VLAN rules, and TCP port 4352.

TCP Connected but PJLink Ready is false: Inspect Authentication Mode and the projector greeting. Enter the correct password when PJLINK 1 is reported. PJLINK 2 is unsupported.

Device Online is false: Confirm the projector is reachable and inspect Last Communication Error, Last Protocol Error, Consecutive Failures, and Raw Protocol Trace.

ERR3 responses: The command is unavailable in the projector's current power, input, or signal state.

Picture mode rejected: Confirm the requested value appears in Available Picture Modes for the active signal.

Gamma rejected: Gamma control is available only when Signal Type is SDR.

Dynamic Tone Mapping rejected: The setter is validated only when Signal Type is HDR10.

Repeated timeouts: Confirm another PJLink client is not competing for the session, use Reconnect, and temporarily enable raw protocol tracing.

Known limitations

PJLINK 2 authentication is not supported. Compatibility outside the tested VisionMaster Max and firmware must be verified on site. Aspect Ratio remains feedback-only. Gamma setters are validated only for SDR, and Dynamic Tone Mapping setters are validated only for HDR10. Warm 1 and Warm 2 color-temperature setters are intentionally omitted because the tested projector rejected them. Quick Menu is the menu reached by proprietary remote code 6 on the tested projector. Projector hardware, firmware, AWOL Link availability, and network operation remain outside the driver's control.
