TP-Link Kasa/Tapo Pro for RTI by Defender Solution provides professional local-LAN integration between RTI Control systems and supported TP-Link Kasa and selected Tapo smart devices.
The driver is designed for fast dealer commissioning directly from Integration Designer. Installers can use Search for New Devices to discover compatible TP-Link devices on the local network, map each device from a dropdown, download the project, and begin two-way control without using a separate management webpage.
The driver supports local control of switches, plugs, dimmers, lighting devices, and compatible multi-outlet products. Supported functions include Power On, Power Off, Toggle, dimming, two-way feedback, device status, diagnostics, color temperature, HSV/color control where supported, energy/runtime feedback where available, and global device commands.
Dimming is designed to behave naturally in RTI:
- 0% brightness = Power Off
- 1–100% brightness = automatically Power On and set the requested level
The driver supports modern TP-Link KLAP v1/v2 communication as well as legacy Kasa local protocols.

Compatibility Note
Compatibility can vary by TP-Link model, hardware revision, and firmware version.
Hardware validation has been completed on Kasa switch and dimmer devices including HS200-class and HS220-class products. Additional Kasa and Tapo device types may require model-specific testing before production deployment.

License
The driver includes a 6-hour automatic trial. A perpetual license is required after the trial and is bound to the RTI processor MAC address. Introductory price: $79 per RTI processor. One processor license covers supported Kasa/Tapo devices mapped through this driver within the driver source limits.
To purchase a license, open System Variable Monitor and locate Driver License > RTI Processor MAC. Send that MAC to Defender Solution. After receiving the signed key, paste it into Driver Properties > License / Trial > License Key and download the project again.

Security
TP-Link credentials are stored in the RTI project configuration and should be protected. Defender Solution license keys are RSA-signed. The driver contains only the public verification key.

Device support varies by TP-Link model, hardware revision and firmware. Validate the exact device before a production deployment.

The license is generated specifically for the RTI processor MAC address.
To activate:
- Install the driver and run it on the RTI processor
- Obtain the RTI processor MAC address from the driver diagnostics
- Send the MAC address to Defender Solution
- A license key will be generated for that processor
- Paste the license key into the driver properties and download the project again
Notes
- A license generated for one RTI processor will not work on another processor
- TP-Link hardware, RTI hardware, programming, and installation labor are not included in the license price
- Compatibility may vary depending on TP-Link model, hardware revision, and firmware
