A full-feature two-hour trial begins after the first successful thermostat discovery.

Required values

1. Device Access Project ID

2. OAuth Client ID

3. OAuth Client Secret

4. OAuth Refresh Token

5. Thermostat names and resource IDs

Google authentication setup

1. Use the Google account that owns the Nest home and thermostats. The thermostat must already be visible in Google Home or the Nest app.

2. Create or select a Google Cloud project.

3. In Google Cloud, open APIs & Services > Library and enable Smart Device Management API.

4. Configure the OAuth consent screen. If the app is External and still in Testing, add the customer Google account as a Test user.

5. Open APIs & Services > Credentials and create an OAuth 2.0 Client ID using Web application / Web server.

6. Add this Authorized redirect URI exactly: https://www.google.com

7. Copy the OAuth Client ID and OAuth Client Secret.

8. Open the Google Device Access Console, register when required, and create a Device Access project using that OAuth Client ID.

9. Copy the Device Access Project ID. This UUID is different from the Google Cloud Project ID.

Retrieve the Refresh Token

1. Open the Defender Solution Google Nest SDM RTI Setup Tool.

2. Enter Device Access Project ID, OAuth Client ID, and OAuth Client Secret.

3. Click Open Authorization.

4. Select the Google account that owns the Nest devices and grant access to the correct home and thermostats.

5. After Google redirects to https://www.google.com?code=..., copy the complete final browser URL.

6. Paste the final URL into Authorization URL / Redirect URL / Code.

7. Click Exchange Code to obtain the Refresh Token and temporary Access Token.

8. Click Discover Devices. Verify the thermostat count, room names, online status, and resource IDs.

9. Copy the RTI fields into Driver Properties in Integration Designer.

Verify in RTI Web Diagnostics
